- George Lazenby: On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), between two Connery movies.
- Roger Moore: seven movies in 12 years, from Live and Let Die to A View to a Kill.

- Pierce Brosnan: four movies, from GoldenEye to Die Another Day.

In what order should you watch the 007 movies?
The simplest way is to follow the release order in the table above. The movies up to 2002 usually have one mission that starts and ends in the same movie. The well-known exception is Blofeld, the head of the criminal organization SPECTRE, who returns in Diamonds Are Forever after On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
With the Daniel Craig movies, the order matters more. Casino Royale (2006) restarted the series from the beginning: Bond has only just been promoted to 00 agent. Quantum of Solace starts right after its ending, and No Time to Die continues the story from Spectre.
- You want the whole series: start with Dr. No (1962) and follow the order in the table.
- You only want the recent movies: watch the five Craig movies in a row, from Casino Royale to No Time to Die.
- You have a single evening: pick a movie from before 2006; most of them make sense without the others.
- You want to jump between actors: you can switch eras as you like, but keep the Craig movies in order.
The Bond movies outside the official series
Besides the 25 Eon movies, other producers made two cinema movies with James Bond. They are not part of the official numbering.
- Casino Royale (1967): a parody, with David Niven as Bond and six directors.
- Never Say Never Again (1983): Sean Connery returns as Bond, directed by Irvin Kershner. Kevin McClory was able to make the movie because he had kept the rights to the Thunderball story, written with Ian Fleming and Jack Whittingham.
With Never Say Never Again, Connery also reaches seven movies as Bond, the same as Roger Moore, but only six are official.
If you want spy movies from outside the series, from Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy to Mission: Impossible, you will find them among the best spy movies.

What is known about the next James Bond movie
The 26th official movie is in preparation at Amazon MGM Studios, which took creative control of the series in February 2025. The announced director is Denis Villeneuve, and the script is being written by Steven Knight, the creator of the series Peaky Blinders. The producers are Amy Pascal and David Heyman.
At the beginning of November 2026, the studio had not announced the actor who will play Bond or the release date. Check the official announcement before relying on a name or a date.
What was the longest gap between two James Bond movies?
The official series has had two gaps of six years each. The first was between Licence to Kill (1989) and GoldenEye (1995), and the second between Spectre (2015) and No Time to Die (2021).
Where does the character James Bond come from?
From the novels of the British writer Ian Fleming. The first, Casino Royale, came out in 1953 and has been adapted for the screen three times, most recently in 2006. You will find other movies based on novels among the best movies based on books.
Who directed the most James Bond movies?
John Glen, with five movies in a row between 1981 and 1989: three with Roger Moore and two with Timothy Dalton. Next comes Guy Hamilton, with four movies, then Terence Young and Lewis Gilbert, with three each.
