Alexandru Ioan Cuza Palace in Ruginoasa

Ruginoasa, Iași County

The Alexandru Ioan Cuza Palace in Ruginoasa, Iași county, was built at the beginning of the nineteenth century for the Sturdza family and then transformed into a neo-Gothic style. It has become a place of memory dedicated to Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the ruler of the Union of Principalities.

The windows and details inspired by Gothic architecture distinguish it from the Brâncovenesc palaces in the south of the country. Inside is the memorial museum, which tells the story of the Cuza family and shows what a nineteenth century residence looked like. The palace is surrounded by a park from which the building can be seen from several angles.
