All Saints Church in Caracal

Caracal, Olt

All Saints Church is located on Bicaz street in Caracal. The dedicatory inscription records works from 1818, while the historical presentation of the city discusses a possible older origin. The church has a cross-shaped plan, thick walls and small windows, and the exterior decoration brings together decorative bands, blind niches and mural painting.

Inside is the tomb of Ioan Dumitriu, the deputy of Caracal in the ad-hoc Divan, who supported the union of the Principalities. The vestibule, narthex and nave retain vaults resting on arches, and Saint Christopher is represented on the north wall. The church functions as a place of worship, so observing the interior is done in compliance with the services and the directions of the parish.
