Amber Museum in Colți
The Amber Museum is in Colți village, Colți commune, Buzău County, in a building inspired by local architecture. The collection opened in 1980 and shows the link between the village and amber mining. The display cases hold pieces of fossilized resin, jewelry and objects used in its extraction and processing.
Among the exhibits are hammers, picks, lamps and a wooden lathe. Shades of amber range from yellow to brown and green-black, and some pieces retain inclusions. The exhibition also includes samples of minerals, along with displays about the nearby rock-cut dwellings and about the history of the Colți area.
