Annunciation Church in Șoimoș
The Church of the Annunciation in Șoimoș was built in 1792, in the locality on the northern bank of the Mureș, today part of the city of Lipova. The stone building has a nave plan and a tower raised above the entrance, with metal cladding and rounded forms. It is located next to the main road that passes through Șoimoș, at the foot of the hills on which the citadel rises.
Inside there is an iconostasis in Viennese baroque style, painted by Nicolae Popescu in 1875. The church has gone through several restorations, including the one in 1923, when the interior was redone. The church continues to serve the local Orthodox parish; on the Feast of the Annunciation, the community maintains the custom of walking around the church. The exterior can be seen from the street area, and the entrance to the church depends on the activity of the parish.
