Antim Monastery

Bucharest

Antim Monastery is located in the center of Bucharest, near Dealul Mitropoliei. It was built between 1713 and 1715 by Metropolitan Antim Ivireanul, who contributed to the plans and decoration of the ensemble. The church, cells and belfry are set around an enclosed courtyard.

At the entrance to the church you can see the columned porch, the carved portal and the oak door. Above the door appears the emblem of Antim: a snail framed by a wreath and star. The monastery museum can be visited by appointment, according to the information published by the monastery.
