Aphenphosmphobia
Fear of being touched
Haphephobia, the fear of being touched, has several names, and aphenphosmphobia is one of them. The first part of the word seems to come from the Greek haphē, “touch”, while the rest has no clear Greek root. The fear is different from hypersensitivity, where touch causes physical pain, and it is treated with cognitive behavioural therapy, exposure therapy or medication.
