Art Museum in Tulcea
The Tulcea Art Museum is located on Grigore Antipa Street, in the former Ottoman administrative palace known as the Pasha's Mansion. After 1878, the nineteenth-century building became the seat of the prefecture, and it has housed the museum since 1982. The neoclassical facade, central entrance and first-floor windows stand out near the waterfront. The museum displays painting, sculpture, icons, graphics and decorative art, brought together in the permanent exhibition "Arts and influences in Dobrogea".
The collections also include oriental art, as well as engraving plates, which show a stage in the making of prints on paper. Modern and contemporary paintings and pieces of sculpture are complemented by icons and decorative objects from past centuries. The museum is part of the "Gavrilă Simion" Eco-Museum Research Institute, along with Casa Avramide. The institution also organizes temporary art exhibitions.
