Astronomical Observatory and Planetarium in Suceava
The Astronomical Observatory and Planetarium in Suceava is located on Mărășești street and is administered by the Ștefan cel Mare University. The planetarium was inaugurated in 1982. The circular hall, covered by a dome with a diameter of ten meters, uses a Carl Zeiss projector to represent the sky, the constellations, the planets and the apparent movement of the heavenly bodies.
At the base of the dome is the painting by Mircea Hrișcă, which reproduces the Suceava skyline from the time the planetarium was set up. Among the exhibits is the model of the Moon made by professor Neculai D. Isaic. The observation deck has astronomical instruments used to observe the lunar relief, the planets and some celestial phenomena. Hall screenings and direct observations are different activities; outdoor observations depend on sky conditions and activities announced by the institution.
