Astronomical Sciences Museum in Baia Mare
The Museum of Astronomical Sciences in Baia Mare is located on George Coșbuc street and continues the activity of the planetarium opened in 1969. In the domed hall, astronomical presentations use projection to explain the stars, constellations and movements of the sky. The experience allows the observation of phenomena that, under the open sky, would depend on the season, the time of observation or the weather. The institution was also previously known as the Baia Mare Astronomical Complex.
The instruments and explanatory materials provide benchmarks for understanding the sky, along with the exhibitions accessible in the museum. The visiting ticket and available presentations are chosen according to the information of the institution. Dome projection is a different experience than outdoor telescope observations, which depend on weather and organized activities. For the visit, check the presentations announced by the museum.
