Baia Mare Artistic Center County Art Museum
The “Baia Mare Artistic Center” County Art Museum is located on 1 Mai Street, in the historic part of the city. The collections trace the work of artists linked to the Baia Mare art center, known for its painting tradition. The landscapes, portraits and other works give an insight into how the city and its surroundings were viewed by different generations. The visit can complement a walk through the places that inspired these images.
The museum building, a former headquarters of the salt administration, adds to the visit through the proportions of its rooms and its architectural details. The collection includes, for example, landscapes by Géza Kádár and Gheorghe Florian. The works offer the opportunity to compare ways of representing the same geographical space.
