Băile Herculane
Băile Herculane is located in the Cerna valley, in the Caraș-Severin county, between the wooded slopes of the mountains. The thermal springs have been used since Roman times, and the name of the resort is reminiscent of Hercules. The historical center preserves baths, hotels and pavilions built during the Habsburg administration.
In Hercules Square you can find the statue of the god and the facades of the old spa buildings. Stone and cast-iron bridges cross the Cerna, and alleys follow the banks of the river. The Neptun baths and the former casino are landmarks of the resort's architecture. The condition and access to the interiors differ from one building to another, some monuments being restored.
