Bistrița Museum

Bistrița, Bistrița-Năsăud

The Bistrița Museum, on General Grigore Bălan Street, brings together collections of history, archaeology, ethnography, art and natural sciences. The institution is part of the Bistrița-Năsăud Museum Complex and presents discoveries and objects related to the communities of the county. The history exhibition traces human settlement in the Someșul Mare basin, from prehistory to the modern era, through pieces from research, donations and acquisitions.

In the ethnography section you can see folk costumes, objects used in shepherding, fishing and agriculture, as well as reconstructions of Romanian and Saxon interiors. The lapidary collections bring together stone pieces from the Roman era and from the medieval and modern periods. Alongside these, the museum presents contemporary art and natural science collections. The choice of sections and temporary exhibitions can be made according to the offer announced on the institution's website.
