Black Eagle Palace

Oradea, Bihor

Between Unirii Square and Independenței Street in the center of Oradea, Bihor County, stands the Black Eagle Palace. The complex was built between 1907 and 1908 according to the plans of architects Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab. The facades with curved lines and plant ornaments belong to the Secession style.

The two wings of the palace are connected by a glass-covered passage. The stained glass window with the black eagle, made in 1909, became the ensemble's emblem. The passage has exits to several streets and connects the commercial spaces with the historical fronts around the square.
