Bobii Stream at Gârbova de Sus

Pârâul Bobii reserve is located in Gârbova de Sus, a locality belonging to the municipality of Aiud. The protected area occupies a sector of Valea Bobii, a tributary of Valea Gârbovei, at the foot of the Trascău Mountains. It is a paleontological reserve, where the main interest is the rock layers and traces of marine life from the geological past of the region.

The Miocene sedimentary deposits contain fossil remains of corals, molluscs and algae. The exposed rock slopes contrast with the meadows and vegetation around the valley. The place is included by the Aiud City Hall among the natural attractions of the localities belonging to it. Fossils and geological layers are part of the protected heritage of the reserve.
