Bolboci Lake
Lake Bolboci lies on the Ialomița River, in the Bucegi Mountains, in Moroeni commune, Dâmbovița County. The reservoir was created behind the Bolboci dam, in a valley lined by forests and mountain peaks. Several streams coming down from the slopes flow into the lake.
On the shores you can see bays, wooded slopes and the roads that follow the contour of the valley. Nearby is the Bolboci mountain lodge, built in 1928, before the reservoir was created. The lake is part of the landscape of the upper Ialomița valley, along with the Zănoaga and Tătaru gorges. The water level varies depending on how the reservoir is operated and on the river’s flow.
