Bologa Fortress
Bologa, Cluj
Bologa Fortress is located in the village of Bologa, Poieni commune, Cluj county, on a hill above the Henț and Crișul Repede valleys. The medieval fortification is first mentioned in the fourteenth century and guarded the road from western Transylvania to Cluj.
The ensemble preserves the main round tower, enclosure walls and other towers erected in different stages. The keep, with its massive masonry, is the most easily recognizable landmark. Restoration work has rebuilt the access and brought out the spaces of the fortress. From its hilltop position there are views of the village and the valleys that meet at Bologa.
