Bradu Monastery

Gurguiata, Băile Olănești, Vâlcea

The Bradu Monastery is located in Gurguiata, a component locality of the city of Băile Olănești. The current church was built in 1784, on the site of an older hermitage, by hieromonk Sava and priest Grigore. It has an oblong plan without a spire, and the open porch is supported on six pillars. The reduced dimensions and high roof distinguish it from the large churches of the nearby monasteries.

The bell tower is also located on the premises, together with the cell buildings. Monastic life was resumed here in 1994 after interruptions in the twentieth century. The old church and the complex around it can be viewed in the same stop, respecting the peace of the settlement and the religious program.
