Brebu Monastery
At Brebu Mânăstirei, in Prahova county, the church built by Matei Basarab is located in a fortified enclosure from the seventeenth century. The ensemble also includes the princely houses, with connected rooms and vaulted cellars, as well as the access tower once used for observation and defense.
The church has three towers, thick walls and two rows of niches that divide the facades. The stone frames of the doors and windows retain carved decorations. In the courtyard you can see the defense walls with openings for firing, and the bell tower dominates the entrance to the former princely court.
