Bridge of Lies
Sibiu, Sibiu
The Bridge of Lies connects two sides of the Little Square in Sibiu, above Ocnei Street, which descends towards the Lower Town. The cast-iron pedestrian walkway was made in 1859 at a foundry in Hesse and installed in the historic center of the city.
The balustrades have plant motifs, rosettes and the coat of arms of Sibiu, and the year of casting can be read on one of the sides. From the bridge you can see the passage below, the roofs of the Little Square and the buildings that enclose the square. Its name is linked to several local legends about merchants, lovers and broken promises.
