Buftea Lake
Buftea, Ilfov
Lake Buftea is an artificial lake on the Colentina River, approximately 20 kilometers north of Bucharest. It is 7 kilometers long, covers 307 hectares and is at most 8 meters deep.
It was created between 1935 and 1937. Because the water would have flooded an old church near the riverbed, the church was raised by 3.5 meters, using concrete slabs placed under its foundation and hydraulic pumps.
