Carlos Alberto Torres was a Brazilian defender known for his defensive reliability and attacking presence. He played for Santos and was the captain of Brazil, world champions in 1970. In the final against Italy he scored after a collective action that became famous. Starting from the right side of the defence, he combined accurate passing with quick forward runs and could contribute directly to goalscoring moves.
