Carol I Great Mosque in Constanța

Constanța, Constanța

The Great Mosque of Constanța was built between 1910 and 1913, at the initiative of King Carol I, as a sign of appreciation for the city's Muslim community. It was inaugurated on May 31, 1913, in the presence of the royal family.

It is located on Arhiepiscopiei street no. 5, near Ovidiu Square. The tall minaret and dome make it easily recognizable in the old town peninsula. Muslims call it the "King's Mosque". It is a historical monument.
