Carol I Park
Bucharest
Carol I Park is located on Filaretului Hill, in sector 4 of Bucharest. It was inaugurated in 1906, on the occasion of the exhibition organized to mark 40 years of King Carol I's reign. The park was laid out to plans by the landscape architect Édouard Redont.
The central alley goes up to the mausoleum, passing the lake and wooded areas. In the park are the Roman Arenas, the Cantacuzino Fountain and the sculptures called the Giants. The difference in level between the entrance and the plateau at the end of the alley is one of the park's defining features.
