Casino Complex in Băile Herculane

Băile Herculane, Caraș-Severin

The Casino complex is located next to the Central Park in Băile Herculane and brings together the building of the former spa house, the park and the bandstand. The casino was built between 1862 and 1864 according to the design of Wilhelm von Doderer. The colonnade, monumental staircases and eclectic facade recall the era when the resort had dance halls, performances and social gatherings.

The park provides perspective on the building and visually connects the resort's several historic edifices. The music kiosk, with an octagonal plan and metal ornaments, is part of the same ensemble. The exterior of the casino can be seen from the public space, but the building requires restoration work and is not accessible to the public inside.
