Ceahlău National Park

Ceahlău Massif, Neamț

Ceahlău National Park protects the upper part of the Ceahlău massif in Neamț County, around the communes of Ceahlău, Bicazu Ardelean and Tașca. The terrain is made up mostly of conglomerate rock, shaped into walls, towers and cliffs. Higher up, the forests at the foot of the massif give way to dwarf-pine thickets and mountain meadows.

Toaca and Ocolașul Mare peaks, distinctively shaped rocks and the Duruitoarea Waterfall are the park’s highlights. The Polița cu Crini reserve protects larch trees, locally called “crini”. Trails start from several points at the base of the massif and climb toward the Dochia chalet, across slopes with varied scenery.
