Central Market Halls in Ploiești
The Central Halls of Ploiești are one of the architectural landmarks of the city center and retain the commercial function for which they were built. Designed by the architect Toma T. Socolescu and inaugurated in 1935, they brought together food trade and modern solutions for organizing space. The central volume, the tower and the side wings give the ensemble a silhouette that can be recognized from the square in front of the building.
When you stop here, you can observe the proportions of the facades, the sequence of windows and the way the entrances connect the hall to the street traffic. The construction has been carefully considered for lighting, ventilation and storage of goods, important aspects for an urban market. Being an active commercial space, the visit adapts to the operation of the market.
