Cetățile Ponorului

Cetățile Ponorului is located in the Padiș area, on the territory of the Pietroasa commune, Bihor county, in the Apuseni Natural Park. The karst complex comprises deep depressions, limestone walls and a large cave portal. The surface waters disappear underground and are part of a network that communicates with the surrounding valleys.

Speleological research has followed the galleries, the water course and the connections between the karst basins. From the surface, the rocky openings and collapses that shaped the place can be seen. The hiking circuit marked with a blue dot passes through the sinkholes and to the viewpoints. The park administration describes it as difficult in places and prohibited in winter.
