Cheia Gorge
Cheile Cheii is a sector of a narrow valley in Buila-Vânturarița National Park, also known as Cheile Comarnicelor or Cheile Recea. The Cheia River has cut through the limestone at the north-eastern end of the massif, forming high walls, rapids, small waterfalls and potholes. In some parts, the rocks come very close, and the difference between the bottom of the valley and the ridge is hundreds of meters.
Access to the area starts from the village of Cheia, along the valley and on the forest roads to the Cheia forestry station. Following the watercourse is a technical route with climbing difficulties that requires experience and appropriate equipment. For the approach to the gorge, choose the routes suitable to the experience and the conditions in the field.
