Cheia Monastery
On the banks of the Tâmpa stream, in the locality of Cheia in Măneciu commune, Prahova county, is the monastery dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The monastery is documented since 1770, and its history includes the destruction of the first church and a fire that required a new reconstruction.
The brick church preserved today was built between 1835 and 1839. Its painting is attributed to Gheorghe Tattarescu. The courtyard of the monastery and the buildings of the cells are spread around the place; above the roofs appear the wooded peaks near the Ciucaș massif. The white facades and towers distinguish the church within the complex at the foot of the mountain.
