Colț Fortress
Suseni, Hunedoara
Colț Fortress rises on a rock above the village of Suseni, in Râu de Mori commune, Hunedoara county. The medieval fortification is linked to the Cândea family of knezes, later known as Kendeffy. Its position at the entrance to the Râușor Valley made it possible to watch over the road and the land below.
The ruins preserve the main tower and portions of the enclosure walls, adapted to the narrow shape of the rock. Other towers and rooms were added in successive stages. From the summit the view opens to Țara Hațegului, and the masonry shows how the builders used the terrain for defense.
