Comana Nature Park
Neajlov Valley, Giurgiu
Comana Natural Park is in Giurgiu County, around Comana and Grădiștea, along the Neajlov River. The protected area includes forests, meadows and an extensive wetland. The Comana Marsh, with its reed beds, canals and areas of open water, is one of its main habitats.
Oak forests and marshes are home to protected birds, amphibians and plants. Woodland peonies and butcher’s broom (ghimpe) grow in some parts, and the flooded areas are important for waterbirds. Paths and observation points link the forest to the edges of the marsh. Comana Monastery stands near the wetland, in the village that gives the park its name.
