Comarnic Cave
The Comarnic Cave is located in the Caraș-Severin county, in the Iabalcea-Carașova area, in the Semenic-Cheile Carașului National Park. The underground system has several levels, developed by the action of water on the limestone. The tourist circuit passes through galleries and halls with stalactites, stalagmites and deposits that cover the walls in the form of curtains or columns.
The cave received nature reserve status in 1947. The level used for visiting is separated from the lower passages where the water of the Ponicova stream flows. Access is with a guide, during the periods and conditions established by the park administration, which provides equipment for the visit. Warm clothes and hiking shoes are required indoors as the temperature is low and the trail has wet sections. The seasonal schedule and group formation are checked before leaving for the access point.
