Constantin Brâncuși House Museum in Hobița

Hobița, Peștișani Commune · Gorj

In Hobița, Peștișani commune in Gorj county, the Constantin Brâncuși House-Museum presents the sculptor's connection with his native village. The museum was set up in 1971 in a wooden house with a porch, representative of the rural architecture of the area. The carved pillars, rooms and constructions of the household show how wood was used in everyday life.

The exhibition brings together photographs, documents, albums, books and letters that follow moments in the artist's life and work. The rustic furniture and fabrics in the interior complete the image of a household in Gorj from the beginning of the twentieth century. The visit focuses on the museum house and the environment in which Brâncuși was formed, providing a context for his interest in simple forms and the craft of wood. The ensemble is located on Sculptorului street.
