Constantin Brâncuși National Museum – Barbu Gănescu House

Târgu Jiu, Gorj

The Constantin Brâncuși National Museum operates in the Barbu Gănescu House, near Victoriei Square in Târgu Jiu. The sculptor lived here during the creation of the ensemble "Calea Eroilor", in the years 1937-1938. The building retains a portico with arches and decorations that differentiate it from the administrative buildings lining the square. The museum was opened to the public on 19 February 2020.

Its activity includes exhibitions and events dedicated to Brâncuși, art and research of the sculptor's work. In the garden of the house there are stone tables related to the artist's presence in Târgu Jiu, including a round table similar to the one in the Central Park. The museum headquarters and its courtyard form a distinct visiting space, located a short distance from the route of the monumental ensemble.
