Constantin Poroineanu Park

Caracal, Olt

The Constantin Poroineanu Park in Caracal was laid out at the beginning of the twentieth century, according to the designs of the landscapers Pinard and Rédont. The paths follow the planted areas and the outline of the lake, which has an island. The complex combines open spaces, mature trees and water views in a sprawling setting on the west side of town.

Among the trees mentioned in the visitor center presentation are ginkgo, pond cypress and black pine. An alley with poplars dates back to 1913, and the beginning of the park's construction dates back to 1908. The park is named after Constantin Poroineanu, one of Caracal's great benefactors. In the park, rehabilitation works are carried out in areas; the walk must be adapted to the boundaries and open accesses on site.
