Coșoteni Monastery

Coșoteni, Vedea, Teleorman

Coșoteni Monastery stands near the village of Coșoteni, in Vedea commune. The church of the former monastery is a historical monument, and in 2014 the religious establishment became a monastery again, dedicated to the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius, the Myrrh-Streamer.

The village of Coșoteni is the birthplace of the scholar Radu Grămăticul, who in 1574 translated a Gospel book (Tetraevangelion) now kept at the British Library in London.
