Cow

About 10,500 years ago, people in central Anatolia, the Levant and western Iran domesticated cattle from the wild aurochs. Today there are more than 1,000 breeds, raised for meat, milk and leather, and some pull carts and farm tools. In Hinduism the cow is a sacred animal, and in some parts of India killing it is illegal.
