Curtea de Argeș Municipal Museum – History Section
The history section of the Curtea de Argeș Municipal Museum is in the city center, near the Princely Church. The late nineteenth-century building was originally a hospital before it was fitted out for museum collections. The exhibition traces several periods in the history of the town and its surroundings.
The collections include archaeological pieces, medieval pottery, documents, portraits of voivodes, ornamental belt buckles, swords, seals and jewelry. Dacian, Roman, Byzantine and medieval coins illustrate trade and the succession of eras; the finds on display include a hoard of coins of Charles Robert. Medals and decorations complete the part dedicated to more recent history. The ethnography and art section of the same institution is housed separately, in Casa Norocea.
