Curtea de Argeș Royal Railway Station

Curtea de Argeș, Argeș

The Royal Train Station in Curtea de Argeș is a listed historical monument on 1 Mai Street, built at the end of the nineteenth century. It was inaugurated in 1898, together with the opening of the railway line between Pitești and Curtea de Argeș. The history of the station is linked to the journeys of the royal family to the monastery that would become the royal necropolis.

The facades have arches, decorative frames and towers covered with small domes, elements that distinguish it from an ordinary railway building. In October 2024, CFR, the Romanian railway company, announced the start of a project to strengthen and restore the building, including its decorative wood, stone, ceramic and metal elements. Access to the interior and to the facades may depend on the work under way at the monument.
