Customs Bridge in Reșița

Reșița, Caraș-Severin

The Vamă Bridge crosses the Bârzava in the central area of Reșița and is also known as the Petru Iacob Bridge. Built in 1937, it was designed by engineers Dan Mateescu and Duiliu Sfințescu. The welded metal structure is a testimony to the engineering knowledge developed in a city with a tradition in steel processing.

The name recalls the point where merchants passing between the old Reșița Română and Reșița Montană were taxed. After the reorganization of traffic in the civic center, the bridge remained for pedestrians. Crossing it allows observing the structure and the river, integrating an achievement of industrial heritage into the walk through the current center of the municipality.
