Dălhăuți Monastery

Dălhăuți monastery is located in the woods near Dălhăuți village, Cârligele commune, Vrancea county. The ensemble includes churches from different stages and is known for the icon of the Mother of God preserved here, around which the pilgrimage tradition of the place developed.

The wooden church dedicated to the Holy Archangels preserves an inscription that recalls works from 1810 and 1827. Nearby you can see the ruins of the masonry church built in the nineteenth century, affected by the earthquake of 1977 and the periods of abandonment. The monastery, abolished in 1959, was reactivated in 1990 with a community of nuns.
