Dâmbovicioara Cave

Dâmbovicioara Valley, Argeș

Dâmbovicioara Cave is located in Dâmbovicioara commune, Argeș county, on the road that continues from the village to Brusturet. The water has dug a gallery here in the limestones in the south of the Piatra Craiului massif. The main passage climbs gently, and inside you can see limestone deposits and wall shapes that the guides associate with animals or characters.

The gallery open to visitors is about 250 meters long, according to the local tourist information center. The position close to the road allows the cave to be included in an outing that also follows the Dâmbovicioarei Gorge, located in the same valley. The two stops show, at different scales, how water shapes the rock: an open corridor between slopes and an underground route. In the cave, follow the set circuit and the instructions of the staff, and grippy shoes help on wet surfaces.
