Devil's Lake

Lacul Dracului in the Nera Gorge is located in Caraș-Severin county, in the Cheile Nerei–Beușnița National Park, in the area accessible by trails from Șopotu Nou and Cărbunari. The bluish-green water occupies a hollow beside the river, bordered by rocks and the mouth of a cave.

The lake was formed by the collapse of part of the cave's ceiling, remaining connected to underground limestone voids. The stone walls and surrounding vegetation are reflected in the sheen of the water. The route to the lake passes through the forest and descends into the Nera valley, in a karst relief sector with caves and springs. Access is pedestrian, on the mountain trails of the park.
