Dormition of the Mother of God Church in Câmpulung Moldovenesc
Câmpulung Moldovenesc, Suceava
The Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God is located on Calea Transilvaniei no. 8, in the center of the city of Câmpulung Moldovenesc, and was built in 1913.
Legend says that in its place stood a wooden church built after 1781 by a Romanian soldier from the Austrian garrison, Stoian. He is said to have gone blind after tearing down the hermitage of Petru Rareș in Poiana Sihăstriei and built the church out of remorse.
