Dormition of the Mother of God Church in Fălticeni
Fălticeni, Suceava
The Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God, called by the locals the Cathedral, was built between 1824 and 1827 by Mihail Gane, who held the rank of spătar (an official at the princely court of Moldavia; originally, the spătar carried the prince’s sword at ceremonies). It is located at 49 Republicii Street, at the northern end of the pedestrian zone in the center of Fălticeni, next to the City Hall building.
The clock tower and the steeples with pointed roofs can be seen from all over the city center. The patronal feast is celebrated on August 15.
