Dormition of the Mother of God Roman Catholic Church in Hunedoara
The Assumption of the Virgin Roman Catholic Church in Hunedoara can be recognized by the two towers on the facade. Built between 1910 and 1912 together with the monastery buildings, it continues an older Franciscan tradition in the city. The exterior is relatively sober, with tall windows and a central entrance leading to the nave.
Inside, highlights include the Carrara marble altar and the organ made by the Angster workshop. The visit can follow both the architecture and the role of the Catholic community in the history of Hunedoara. The church is used for services, and tourist access must be adapted to the religious program. The church and its courtyard can be visited following the instructions of the administrators, without presupposing free access to the adjacent buildings.
