Dormition of the Mother of God Wooden Church – Vânătorii Pietrei
The wooden Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Piatra Neamț stands in the Vânătorii Pietrei district, on Gheorghe Doja Street. The inscription at the entrance shows that it was built in 1776 through the efforts of Ioil, abbot of Bisericani. It is made of fir beams laid on a stone foundation.
The plan has side apses and an altar that project slightly beyond the nave. The porch, the narthex extension and the tower were added later, and the wooden-shingle roof is rounded at the ends. The carved details of the entrance include rosettes and braided cord motifs. Inside are a barrel vault and old icons, while the original iconostasis is now part of the collection of Văratec Monastery.
