Duca Fortified Manor
Măldărești, Vâlcea
Cula Duca, also called Cula Măldărescu, is located in Măldărești, Vâlcea county, close to Cula Greceanu. It was built in the first part of the nineteenth century by Gheorghiță Măldărescu and bought in 1910 by the politician I. G. Duca.
The building has three levels, rooms with thick walls and a spacious veranda on the upper floor. The firing openings, the reinforced door and the system for closing off the staircase retain the defense function. The interior was furnished with traditional objects from the Horezu area, and nearby is the holiday home of the Duca family, which has become a memorial museum.
