Dumbrava Cemetery in Buzău
The Dumbrava Cemetery in Buzău was established in 1872 and was originally called Sfânta Filofteia. Among the graves are funerary monuments that preserve the names of families, mayors and personalities of the city. The ensemble also has an artistic component, through the works signed by sculptors active at the end of the nineteenth century and the first part of the twentieth century.
The Nicolae Seceleanu family monument is linked to the sculptor Frederic Storck, and other works are associated with Dumitru Mățăuanu and Ciprian Dominoschi. The grave of the singer Mihaela Runceanu is also located here. Visiting requires respecting a cemetery in use: the monuments and inscriptions can be followed from the alleys, without disturbing the ceremonies or the people who come to the graves.
